How to get Google Ads permissions for Madgicx

To view data and launch Google Ads via Madgicx, you need “Standard” or “Admin” permissions to access the Google account.

Permissions needed to grant yourself access

The "Edit users, roles, and teams" user role permission is required to add or edit users. The "Ad Exchange" permission is required to add and edit users with Ad Exchange permissions.

If you don’t have these permissions, then you need to ask the relevant admin on your team to grant you the necessary permission.

How to get the permissions if you’re not the admin

If you’re not the admin of the Google Ad account you want to connect to Madgicx, you’ll need to get your team member who is the admin to:

  1. Sign in to Google Ad Manager
  2. Under “Admin” on the left sidebar, click “Access and security,” then click the blue “+.”
  1. Enter the user's email address and select a user role (either Standard or Admin).
  1. Click "Send invitation."

Here’s a handy message you can send to the admin of the account:

Hey, I need permission to manage our Google Ads account. Could you spare a few minutes to help me out? (it’s quick and painless, promise 😉)

  1. Go to Google Ad Manager (you may need to re-enter your password)
  2. Head to “Tools and settings” in the top-right bar
  3. Click on “Access and security” that appears below
  4. Click on the “+” button
  5. Enter my email address
  6. Select my role as “Standard”
  7. Click the blue “Send invitation” button

That’s it! Appreciate it if you could get this done ASAP 🙏 so I can start optimizing and maximizing our potential through Google Ads 💪

How to connect your Google Ads account to Madgicx

There are two places you can connect your Google Ads account to Madgicx. Let’s see your options.

Connect Google Ads to the Business Dashboard

Connecting your Google Ads account to the Business Dashboard lets you also see your Google Ad analytics in Madgicx, giving a broader view of your advertising activity.

Head to the Business Dashboard by clicking the Analytics icon on the main Madgicx menu.

Click the Google Ads icon at the top of the Blended Summary.

Alternatively, you could also scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Google Ads “Connect”  button.

Either of these routes will open a popup where you can add a new Google Ads account by clicking the “Add more” button at the bottom. You can also search any Google Ads accounts already connected to Madgicx and add them by clicking the “Connect” button.

If you’re adding a new Google Ads account, click the “Reauthorize” button that appears on the next screen.

A new window will open, prompting you to log in to your Google Ads account. Once you log in, you’ll receive an email from Google requesting permission to add the account to Madgicx. Click the “Accept” button in the mail and return to Madgicx. Click the plus ‘+’ sign to select one or all Google Ads accounts, then “Apply” to complete the process.

Your Google Ads account data is now visible in the Business Dashboard.

Connect Google Ads to One-Click Report

If you want to see your Google Ads data in One-Click Report as well, you’ll need to add it following these instructions.

Go to One-Click Report from the Analytics menu icon on the main Madgicx menu.

Click the “Data Sources” button at the top right of the screen.

Click the “Connect Google Ads” button, and log in to your Google Ads account in the window that opens.

Make sure your Google Ads account is ticked and green in the popup that appears to show it’s connected to Madgicx. It will display like this if you’ve already connected it to the Business Dashboard. If the tick is gray, select it and click “Apply” to add it to Madgicx.

If you haven’t already connected your Google Ads account to the Business Dashboard, you’ll receive an email asking you to accept the request to add it, which you should accept and return to Madgicx to see your Google Ads data in your One-Click Reports.

That’s it! 🎉
