How to get Google Analytics permissions for Madgicx

To view Google Analytics data via Madgicx, you need permissions to access the Google Analytics asset.

Google Analytics users must have a Google Account. If the person you add already uses a Google product, such as Gmail, they already have a Google Account.

Permissions required

You must be either an Admin, Editor, or Analyst in Google Analytics or GA4 to share the data with your Madgicx account.

If you don’t have one of these permissions, you need to get it from another administrator.

How admins add new users

For an admin to grant you access to a Google Analytics asset, they need to:

  1. Head to Google Analytics
  2. Click Admin in the bottom-left corner (⚙️), and navigate to the “Account” column that appears.
  3. Click “Account Access Management”
  4. In the “Account permissions” list that appears, click “+” in the top right, then click “Add users.”
  5. Enter the email address for the user's Google Account
  6. Select Admin, Editor, or Analyst permissions
  7. Click “Add.”

Here’s a handy message you can send to the account admin:

Hey, I need permission to manage our Google Analytics asset. Could you spare a few minutes to help me out? (it’s quick and painless, promise 😉)

  1. Go to Google Analytics (you may need to re-enter your password)
  2. Head to “Admin” (⚙️) in the left-hand sidebar at the bottom
  3. Click on “Account Access Management” that appears in the “Account” column that appears
  4. Click on the “+” in the top right, then click “Add users”
  5. Enter my email address
  6. Select my role as “Analyst” or above
  7. Click “Add”

That’s it! Appreciate it if you could get this done ASAP 🙏 so I can start optimizing and maximizing our potential through Google ads 💪

When you have the permissions, head to Madgicx’s Settings and scroll down to the “Google Ad Accounts” section at the bottom of the page.

Note: You need to connect a Google Ads account to Madgicx before connecting a Google Analytics account.

Here’s how to get the correct permissions for Google Ads.

Click on the “Add Google Account” button in the bottom right-hand corner of the page.

To connect the account to Madgicx, find the account in the dropdown list and click Save.

Once you have obtained the correct permissions on the ad account, you should check your connection in Madgicx to ensure it’s reflecting these changes.

You’re all set.
