How to refresh
- Go to “Manage connected ad accounts” in “Settings.”
- Click the refresh icon next to the relevant ad account.
- Wait a few moments while the connection refreshes, and you’re done.
When to refresh:
To get the latest data from an already connected ad account. This includes updated ad spend info, connected accounts, datasets, Terms of Service, and user permissions.
If refreshing doesn’t solve your issue, try reauthenticating.
How to reauthenticate
- On the same page in “Settings,” click the “Reauthenticate” button at the top of the list of ad accounts.
- A popup will appear for you to confirm the connection. Log in or click the “Continue” button if you’re already logged in.
- You’re all done.
When to reauthenticate:
- Your Facebook token breaks, and you see an error page telling you there’s a problem. See the reasons below why this happens.
- To get information about new ad accounts that weren't connected to your user account before, you get access to a new ad account.
Instances that require reauthentication:
- Token Expiry: Access tokens have a limited lifespan for security reasons. When they expire, they need to be refreshed or a new token must be issued.
- Revocation: If a user changes their password, revokes permissions, or manually logs out of Facebook, any associated tokens can be invalidated to ensure account security.
- App Changes: Modifications to the Facebook app's settings, such as updating permissions, changing security settings, or altering app configurations, can invalidate existing tokens.
- Security Concerns: Facebook has mechanisms to automatically revoke tokens if suspicious activity is detected, such as login attempts from an unusual location or device.
- Permission Updates: If the scope of the permissions requested by the app changes, previously issued tokens may no longer be valid.
- Violation of Policies: If the app violates Facebook's platform policies, tokens can be revoked or limited.
- Access Limits Exceeded: Exceeding Facebook's API rate limits or quotas can also cause tokens to temporarily break or become unusable.
